What is a prompting guide?
A prompting guide is LUVI's written manual for one model family — the dialect it responds to, the words that break it and the parameters that matter — and it is applied automatically by the prompt-check feather in the Workspace and by Claude or ChatGPT through the connector.
Why models need one
Video and image models do not share a language. One model honours timecodes; another ignores them. One reads a negative prompt; another has no such field and treats "no rain" as a request for rain. One expects <IMAGE_0> to name a reference; another expects @Image 1. Writing a Seedance prompt for Kling produces a full-price render of the wrong thing.
A prompting guide captures those rules for one family, taken from the vendor's own documentation and from generations LUVI has measured.
Two layers
- Hard rules. Things that can be checked mechanically: a character limit, a forbidden token, the exact reference syntax, a parameter that must be present. The Workspace runs these on your prompt as you type and marks each issue.
- Dialect. How to structure the prompt — where the camera goes, how dialogue is written, how sound is named. This layer is used when a prompt is rewritten for you.
Some families have both layers; a few (Veo, FLUX 1.1 Pro) have only the dialect, so the check says there is nothing to auto-correct.
Where you meet it
- Workspace. The feather next to the prompt box lights up when the selected model has a guide. It lists the issues, offers Apply all, and can rewrite the whole prompt in the model's dialect.
- Model page. The guide is printed on the model's public page so you can read the rules yourself.
- Connector. Claude and ChatGPT read the guide, write the prompt in that dialect and check it before generating. You see the line LUVI Prompt Engine is active.
- Workflows. Prompt nodes are linted with the same rules before a run.
Frequently asked
Does the guide change my prompt without asking?
No. The feather shows what it would change and you apply it; through the connector, Claude writes the prompt in that dialect before sending it and tells you the Prompt Engine is active.
Does using a guide cost anything?
No. Checks and rewrites are free; only the generation is charged.
