How does the team messenger work?
The message button in the bottom-right corner opens a chat with your teammates — one channel per team plus direct messages between members — with unread counts, online dots and typing indicators, and you can attach any file from your library without making a copy.
Opening it
A round message button sits bottom-right on every page of the app. On phones it hides inside the Workspace and the workflow canvas to keep the composer usable, but it keeps counting unread messages in the background.
Conversations
- Team channel. Every team has one, created automatically and named after the team. All members are in it.
- Direct messages. Pick a teammate from the contact list. You can only start a DM with someone who is in a team with you.
An amber badge on the button shows the total number of unread messages across all conversations.
Presence and typing
A dot next to each participant shows who is online right now. While someone is typing in the conversation you have open, a typing indicator appears.
Attaching files
The attach button lets you pick a generation or an upload from your library. What is sent is a reference, not a copy: the file stays in your library, is not duplicated, and takes no extra storage. The recipient sees it rendered in the thread.
Search
The messenger has a search box for messages; type at least two characters.
The dashboard panel
The dashboard's Messages panel is a snapshot of your conversations with unread counts and the number of team channels. Click a row to jump straight into that thread.
When a team is dissolved
The team channel disappears with the team. Direct messages between former teammates stop being possible.
Frequently asked
Can I message someone outside my team?
No. Direct messages are only possible between people who share a team.
Does an attachment count against storage?
No. An attachment is a reference to the file in your library, not a copy; the recipient views it in place.
Where else do I see new messages?
The Messages panel on the dashboard lists your conversations and their unread counts; clicking one opens the messenger on that thread.
