What file formats and sizes can I upload?
Images up to 50 MB and videos, audio, 3D files and PDFs up to 1 GB — every image is stored as JPEG or PNG, and other image formats are converted on upload.

What happens to images
Every image is stored as JPEG or PNG, whatever you uploaded. JPEG and PNG files are kept byte for byte. Everything else is converted on the server: PNG when the image has transparency, JPEG otherwise; an animated GIF or WebP keeps its first frame; an SVG is rasterised at 2048 px on its long side. What happens to videos
MP4 and WebM are stored as they are. A .mov file — what an iPhone camera produces — is converted to MP4 shortly after upload; until that finishes the original plays, then the stored URL switches to the MP4. Videos also get a scrub proxy and a phone-sized rendition so they play on any device.
Rejected files
ICO, PSD and JPEG XL images cannot be converted and are refused with a clear message. Files above the size limit are refused before the upload starts.
