How do I upload photos and videos from my phone?
Use the Upload button in the Library or the reference row in the phone Workspace and pick from the camera roll — HEIC photos are stored as JPEG and iPhone .MOV videos are converted to MP4 in the background, so nothing needs converting on the phone first.
Picking from the camera roll
- Library: press Upload and choose from Photos. You can select several items.
- Phone Workspace: the reference row has Upload from this phone; the picked file goes straight into the reference slot.
When you pick a video, iOS spends a few seconds exporting it before the picker returns. That is normal; the dialog shows the file once the export finishes.
Photos
iPhones shoot HEIC. In Safari the phone converts the photo to JPEG before uploading, in a fraction of a second. In other browsers the HEIC uploads as-is and the server converts it. Either way the stored file is a JPEG (or PNG when the image has transparency), orientation baked in, colour converted to sRGB — so what you see in the library is what the model receives.
Videos
Camera-roll videos arrive as .MOV. LUVI accepts them and converts each to an MP4 sibling within about a minute; the library shows a converting badge meanwhile and the file becomes usable as a reference when the badge clears. The audio and video streams are copied without re-encoding when the codecs allow, so there is no quality loss.
Sizes
Per file: 50 MB for photos, 1 GB for videos. A 4K one-minute phone clip is typically a few hundred megabytes, well inside the limit.
Playback on the phone
Uploaded videos play through a 720p copy on phones; the original is what you download or send to a model.

Why is my video shown as converting?
A .MOV is turned into an MP4 shortly after upload so that every model can read it. The badge disappears when the copy is ready, usually within a minute.
Will my photo lose quality?
HEIC is re-encoded as a high-quality JPEG with the colour profile and orientation preserved; a photo with transparency becomes PNG.
Does it work in Chrome on iPhone too?
Yes. Safari converts HEIC on the phone; other browsers upload it as-is and LUVI converts it on the server.
